Madama Butterfly

Well im terribly sorry for not having posted for such a long time and I’m afraid it just gets worse..i have no recent film scanned for u owing to the dire state of my finances and the fact that im very very lazy to scan the few prints i do have.

Well i intended this to be a full fledged post,but unfortunately its not.Ill anyway edit it in the future.

I was involved in an opera production recently, titled “Madama Butterfly”, which was premiering on the 27th of march,it was the first production of this Puccini masterpiece, i was in the chorus, well all those things apart i do have a few pictures from the rehearsals of the opera,that i shot using my friends digital p&s some of the pictures are unbearably noisy but i was initially hesitant to stick a noisy slr in their faces coz everyone was quite wound up for various reasons, well i hope the pictures give you an idea of the mood over there 😉

well, this is me, i know ugly, but hey!!

and this is rohan and aashish fooling around and me going snap while we wait to find out where we get made up..(yes there was make up involved now dn get any ideas..)

seho chang, a baritone from south korea a really really fun guy, hehe during the time we were working, we taught him the hindi phrase “mein tumse pyar karta hoon!” the guy went nuts and kept repeating it haha even putting it into song..

feet.. i was pretty bored by now..

Florian Spiess an amazing bass, thunderous and magnificent are words i would use to describe his voice but truth be told i think those words fall short in describing the purity of his voice..

My First Post

Hello all! Anyway, i used to post on blogger a lot but that was just a lot of random stuff, i decided to start a film shots blog over here, ok thats not exactly true my first post is digital well i just wanted to organize my stuff,besides it seems easier to upload images over here(i hope so), blogger used to take ages, not that i hate blogger i just wanted to start afresh.. hah!

some Ilford pan 400 for those who didnt know its the 3rd world edition of ilford’s delta 400 film i was rather sceptical about it but hey its great and its definitely cheaper than tri-x, which people over hear sell at exhorbitant rates claiming shortage of product(yeah shortage my ass more like artificial scarcity)

So anyway heres the post..

it was a really cosy day, kinda heavy showers etc so the guys fooling around..

in this bar near college its called vinvina v for short..so we just flash the victory sign when we wanna go there.. heh thats the back of navneet’s head by the way.. 1/8th at f1.4 ..yeah it was dark

after their drinks a bit tipsy and more at ease with me taking pictures..(they werent used to an idiot sticking a lens in front of them then..) 1/15th at 1.4 i think it was heavily overcast nice light but yeah no fast shutter speeds..

karthik.. hes quite photogenic i think.. i just liked the scene here must be 1/125th at 1.4

ah a decisive moment? i dunno 1/125th at 1.8

snehal i just wanted to take a picture of her well didnt turn out as idve liked it but i guess thats the price of carrying a big rock in ur hand instead of a nifty little rangefinder (not that slrs are bad heh)

this is the food court at the galleria mall on palm beach road,vashi..i just like the scene a lot 1/15th at 1.4

now for some color Superia 800,brilliant film,im sorry i wasnt more selective in shooting it,was feeling quite miserable for a while after it came back from the lab..until i went to process watson‘s pushed superia(he gave me this roll of superia by the way), and the lab guy asked me bout it and blah blah blah he said he had a few rolls am i interested?i said yes please and i bought 4 so whatever, bottomline is its a brilliant film excellent saturation and grain great for available light stuff.. so on with the pictures..

this is shyamala shes full of stories this one heh there are at least 8 new stories that she has to let me know in a day along with lotsa old ones(she keeps forgetting she’d already tonarrated those earlier heh) all in all shes a great friend to have. Taken at 1/8th of a second at f2.0

so i went to i-rock last year.. for the uninitiated i-rock(independence rock) is an annual 2 day rock music festival of sorts the first day being a competition betn upcoming indian bands and the second day is just pure music where some well known bands from india perform along with the oldies(who refer to themselves as the dinosaurs of rock)..well i dont know about u guys but the oldies are more bearable than lame assed indian idiots trying to sound like norwegians..

this is from the second day i was quite drunk and well the mosh pit is not a nice place to shoot from and they wouldnt let on the other side of the barricade coz i didnt have a press id.. anyway this was the only shake free image i got, now u know why i felt miserable shooting this film impulsively..

i dont remember the band i think it was one of them dinosaurs of rock and i never remember their names..

so anyway its my college’s annual fresher’s night, i always found the term fresher retarded freshman seems more appropriate..anyway really dark and shit scan quality is dreadful here but please bear with me will upload scans of better prints when i do get them..

shyamala had gone to her homeopath at bandra, thats a suburb of bombay,and while returning we decided to walk it from the reclamation area back to the train station, on the way near st.stanislaus i think i saw this on a shop front, i thought it was cute and kinda funny i mean come on, dog raincoats?? so snap snap!i like the pattern the shirts form around that poster..
